Doulos laughed. “How do you know this?” “Rules are rules, my brother. Look at the clock it is no longer counting down, just end this so I can go home!” I yelled. “Don’t you know that events play out as I see fit. I can walk through fire and not be burned. I can walk off a cliff and never fall to my death. I determine the course of my own destiny. I control my own fate!” Doulos stated flying into a fit of rage. “You seat here and expect me to believe in the notion of God, a higher power, or some stupid light in the sky. Well, there is no God!” Doulos roared as he charged me, grabbed me by my neck, and slammed me to the floor.
His face was the very image of evil, the embodiment of hate, murder, and fear. Doulos was clearly afraid and for a good reason, so he was projecting his fear of death unto me. Deep down he knew that he was going to die but his pride wouldn’t let him believe it. “Since you’ve established that you have it all figured out. What’s taking you so long to die with your pride? As I said from the beginning rules play an important part in our situation. You don’t have to die but you do have to make a decision before its made for you.” I replied with a shrug. Doulos immediately calmed down as he let me go and went back to his chair. I got up and slide the gun over to his side of the table. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Grabbing the gun, Doulos looked at me then placed the gun to his head. “I will never change who I am, my life is my own. I’ll show you that there is no God, only self knowledge.
With a giddy insane smile, Doulos pulled the trigger. The explosion greatly resounded in the small room and the flash of the muzzle was like nothing I’ve seen before. In the brief light I watched in a series of mental frames as the seventh click of the firing pin gave way to a roaring blast that ripped away half of Doulos’ face spraying me and the walls with his blood. The images in the flash of light was a scene depicting a legion of angels battling a horde of demons lead by a legion of dark angels. In another scene I saw a large dark figure roaring in anger as he tried his best to grab ahold of me. Since he was unable to he torn his flesh and slammed his fist at the invisible barrier that kept him from me. In the blood that covered me on the surface of the small globes were the sins of my past and future. Tears came to me eyes as the door to the room unlocked itself and opened.
Then before I knew what was happening the entire room faded away and when I could see clearly. I saw that I was at my desk writing. I put my pen down on my tablet and began weeping uncontrollably, as I cried two words came to mind. Grace and Mercy. Although, I was finally free from my past. My journey was far from over. ~FIN~
