depression, stress, sadness-8690711.jpgThe hardest habit to break is the assimilation of prison culture,

Dealing with traumas like OCD to PTSD and dodging prison vultures,

Creating an unbreakable routine trying not to fall victim of stupidity,

The first time through was hard and I never thought about reentry,

My unstabled program mind has kept me locked in a steel cage,

This cannot be a chapter about my life written on a random page,

I break the barriers in front of me being free from this catastrophe,

Listening to these so called Christians speak this blasphemy,

The politics of maximum security ingrained in my natural habits,

Compared to those who lived poorly to those who live lavish,

I couldn’t pretend that I’m perfect because I’ve been conditioned,

I can never fall off that’s why I stay focused on my personal vision,

I had to stick to the mandatory paper checking and extreme workouts,

I am a part a this prison tradition to rep my section that what its about,

And earn my stripes with missions and making myself a name,

Hopping on pen-pal sites just to meet someone real and spit my game,

My intentions is to never become indoctrinated to this environment,

Because you can lose sight and become prone to contentment,

We crossed the line in the sand between us and the authority,

Growing up in the system gave me the chance to embrace maturity,

A blessing in disguise having to grasp the aspect of rehabilitation,

Sometimes needing to really pray and embrace my meditation,

Sanity is my only friend because it gave me true clarity,

Mental illness is a real disease and I saw the actual severity,

The most important things are mail, phone calls, and family,

Administration giving us so much resistance looking like our enemy,

How can we find peace right in the middle of all this noise,

Can’t show our emotions and I smile with so much poise,

I strive hard to break all the stereotypes of good prisoners,

At the end of the day we have the final say as real winners,

My advocacy work and my adversity makes me stronger,

All these synthetic people trying help us because we jail birds,

Staying productive and moving with grace being proactive,

People in society are gonna hate acting all passive aggressive,

This atmosphere can cause a man to lose himself in the mix,

Outside in the yard fantasizing about freedom beyond the sticks,

My true calling is to never accept complacency but be productive,

Freedom is the only concept I fiend for because that’s the objective.
