It is getting closer to the Easter, as others prepare to spend this festive time with loved ones, there are many who wish they could enjoy such a privilege, but due to circumstances that might be considered beyond their control, either willfully or inadvertently, they are not able to!
With that said, it is impossible to ignore the political fiasco going on in the United States and around the World. It is hard to ignore the level of contempt and indifference being exercised by those we employ to represent our interest. (Aka. The Politicians or the So-Called Elected Officials). As I take a step back reflecting on my day, I found my thoughts curiously wondering about the political landscape around the word, and most especially in the United States. I was immediately drawn to the television stations and how each television station had its own angle, or angles of reporting, but what intrigued me the most is the toxic political environment we are in. We find ourselves embroiled in a rotten toxic political pit, fighting each other’s, arguing political issues, and even doing the dirty works of our “So Called” Elected Officials, while they themselves sits on the sideline, and adding more toxic fuels to already divided public. Furthermore, the mainstream media makes the situation worst by their continued amplification of those divisive voices.
On CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, and other left leaning channels keeps themselves busy and gravitating on Former President Donald Trump’s New York Civil Case, and the Hush Money Prosecution and the Georgia Fulton County case brought by the Fani Willis. Over on Fox News, they are busy gravitating on the Immigration Crisis, and President Joe Bidens Age, and the “So Called” Liberal States soft on crime policies. It has become so frustrating to see the mainstream media going along and entangling themselves with politic and becoming a per-se propaganda hand of either political party and singing their song and preaching their messages, rather than being able check to those in power.
I asked myself, who is being served by the theatrics games being played by the politicians we elect to represent our interest, and the media we expect to inform us and stand as the check to the powerful?
Why do people keep on electing the DO NOTHING politicians to power?
Why do they think they can just get away with not doing what their constituency elected them to do?
I am very sure those are questioning many people have asked themselves over and over again, especially the disenfranchised communities.
As a person of Color, the first thing that comes to my mind is the relationship between the Black Community and the Democratic party, I just wonder, why is it that every single year, the black communities are asked to vote and elect a democrats with promises to make things better for the black community but year after year, the black community is rewarded with nothing but disappointment, “Pie in the Sky” and Mass Incarceration.
It is hard to understand why is it that we continue to subject ourselves to such contempt and indifference?
Why must we be subjected to such toxic relationship?
Many might say that the Republican Party is even worst, a contention I have no ground, or grounds to disagree on, but why limit ourselves to those two parties?
Why not deny them the votes until they start adhering to their duties and responsibilities?
And why not stop relying on media that continue to help sow the divisiveness and help create the toxic societal fiasco.
With the understanding that many of the questions raised are not easily answered, and the solutions to them are pretty complex, but the most important immediate step “We” as people can do, is to realize the Power We Possess to effect change.
A lot of time we forget that those in power works for us, and their power derive from what we give to them. We as “The People” have the ultimate power, although constrained to a specific time (every 2years for Legislators in the House of Representative, 4years for Governors and Presidents, and 6years for Senators. State laws dictates the length and time for local elections), but very significant when that power is exercised. Many might say that the power in question is significantly constrained by systemic social and racial barriers. Accepting the said that point to be true, factual and valid, we must be reminded that even with the systemic barriers, we still have the power, and the power we possess isn’t “OBSOLETE”.
Strictly construing the plain language of the Preamble of the United States Constitution and drawing reasonable inferences thereof, it is clear that the power of the government derives from the people, without it, the government power is Obsolete. As comforting as it might sound, we as “The People” must utilize that accountability power to effect change. Exercising the said power also include the ability to vote against the Inapt, Do-Nothing politicians whose promises of better life and opportunity never come to past.
The continued endorsement of empty promise politicians and the mainstream media sells to us, is in of itself a permission to continue to be disenfranchise and marginalized. The definition of insanity is the repetition of the same action with an expectation of a different result. Therefore, I ask, why allow ourselves to be repeatedly lied to over and over, and expect a different result every single time? The honest truth is that we’ve allowed it to happen, and until we as the people stand up and show that: WE THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER, and willing to exercise such power, we must as well just put ourselves back in chains and be willing to accept the heartbreaks and heartaches that comes with it (Aka. The Toxic Status Quo). Neither side of the political landscape, or spectrum represent democracy, both parties represent toxicity, both parties are race mongers and divisive, and has no interest of us in mind, not to say the interest of those in the disenfranchised communities. We must also resist the amplification of polarization by the mainstream media intended to lead us into disarray.
Many might want to question the political motive behind this writing, they might think the writer is a Republican, I am not. I am a Blackman, and not politically aligned, nor do I owe an allegiance to either the Democrats, or the Republican Party. In fact, neither party shares my values and principles.
All I am doing is highlighting the obvious truth, speaking and raising question on issues many are so afraid to even touch, but as an activist, an organizer and someone in the struggle, silence isn’t a choice for me, therefore, I must speak without fear with the hope that my words shines a bright in this desperate time of darkness, regardless of the whatever consequences, or backlash that might come with it.
In conclusion, we must remember that “A government must be of the people, by the people and for the people.” and the people we elect must know that “We the People Have the Power”.
It is an Election Year, So Please Vote, and make a difference and reject the Status Quo.
