I am a 46 year old mother of two; born and raised in Buffalo NY; prior to my incarceration I was a Sheet metal Worker in Local #71. Some qualities I possess are unrelenting strength, intelligence, persistence, humility, caring, compassion, loving, kindness and most important.. perseverance.
Being wrongfully accused and convicted of a crime I did not commit has been the ultimate test of my faith. I am in the midst of the battle of a lifetime which has allowed me to reconnect with my true self. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Finding my faith was paramount in finding the drive and determination to embark on my journey of reclaiming my freedom.
Within these walls you realize things that were taken for granted. Finding the positive in any situation is what is required to keep from becoming a product of ones current environment. In addition, I had to dig deep to find peace and acceptance with my current circumstance. It’s not easy when you’re innocent. In the meantime I have obtained my Associates degree through Marymount Manhattan College and currently pursuing my Bachelor’s.
I volunteer for numerous self improvement courses, such as Alternative to Violence Program (AVP) and other women’s groups. Until my release I will continue to be a light for whomever may cross my path as this situation does in no way define who I am. A piece of advice is not to judge a book by its cover…..read it first!!!!
